Dear Congregation Members, We are approaching that time again, when we recommit
our partnership with and support of parents and their children, as we celebrate our Child Dedication
Service. This year’s celebration will take place on March 4, during the Sunday worship service: 10:45 AM. We hope that you will make plans to participate in this celebration.
Over the next few weeks, we will be collecting information from families who would like to dedicate their child to the Lord. Therefore, if you have a child that is 11 years
or younger that you would like to dedicate to the Lord,
we would ask that you fill out the form and turn it in.
The
deadline for these forms is February 5. After we have received
all of the requests to participate in this very special
service, we will be contacting each family to attend an information meeting prior to the service. This meeting will be held on Sunday, February 26th directly following the Worship Service. A light lunch will be provided and the meeting is mandatory to participate in the program on March 4.
We are committed to the Kingdom, and want you to know how much North Bullitt Christian Church believes the family plays a signicant role in Kingdom work. The Child Dedication Service is as much serious as it is a celebration, as the parent(s)/guardian(s)
are making a pledge not to men, but to God, to “train
a child up in the way they should go."
For the Glory of the King, Cecil Comstock, Sr. Minister
Baby Dedications Each year, North Bullitt Christian
Church gives parents the opportunity to have their babies
(children) dedicated to the Lord. The dedication is based on the Biblical principle of giving the parents the responsibility to teach and model how to love and follow Christ.
There is no age requirement; a child of any age can be dedicated to the Lord.
What a Baby Dedication is NOT: · Baptism · A guarantee that your children will never have problems. · A rite that gives a child a special standing before God.
What
a Baby Dedication IS: · A chance for parents to publicly commit to raise their
child in a way that honors God. · An opportunity to seek support from N.B.C.C. as a whole, to raise their
children in the faith. · A time for parents
to draw together in making that commitment.
What is a Baby Dedication? A
baby dedication is not a baptism. We do not baptize infants. A baby dedication does not ensure that the baby will make it to heaven. The Bible says that a baby is a blessing from God. When you decide to dedicate your son or daughter, you are acknowledging the awesome responsibility God has given you in raising your child. A baby dedication is a ceremony that expresses your desire as parents to raise your son or daughter in the ways of the Bible and to ask God to use your son or daughter for his purposes.
You submit your will for your child to His will.
Why should I dedicate my infant? The
Bible provides an example for this in that Mary and Joseph took baby Jesus to the temple to be dedicated to God. As followers of Christ, we want to also make this public declaration to your family, as your church family. It is invaluable to be able to tell a child as they are growing up that they belong to Jesus and that you
have asked God to use them in a formal declaration, i.e. Baby Dedication.
What if my child is older and I have not dedicated them as an infant? Generally, we encourage parents who have not
dedicated their child to God to do so if the child is still in grade five or below.
Special Slide Show Presentation We will be putting together a special slide show
of the children being dedicated. For your child to be
included, please register him/her using the form below and submit
your pictures to the church by Monday, January 25. Emailing photos is preferred. Send them to secretary@nbchristian.org, and place Baby Dedication in the subject line. Bringing them in to the office on a CD is also acceptable. Please
send/bring 3-4 pictures per child.
